It happened to the Indians, it can happen to the Tea Party.

October 1867 – The Federal government holds a formal convention to coerce the Indian Nations west of the 98th meridian onto reservation life. The government objective was to get the agreements of the Comanche, Kiowa, Cheyenne, Arapaho, Kiowa and various Apache tribes. The ever famous Ten Bears was present and addressed the convention.

The most notable tribe present was the Comanches. Since the introduction of horses by the Spanish in the 1600’s, the Comanche became a transformed tribe of power and war. They were to become known as a horse people. Unlike any of the Northern or Eastern tribes, the Comanche were the most devastating force any White, Mexican or Indian had come across. They did not farm, they did not cultivate. They lived from roving camps and hunted buffalo. They also made sport of stealing horses, raiding white settlements and Mexican villages. Often they would take captors. They did not discriminate, when whites were not around to harass, unsuspecting plains Indians would come under their wrath.

Manifest Destiny was a concept no Indian could understand. The Western frontier would be possessed by any white settler brave or crazy enough to claim it. White settlers homes threatened the way of life for the Indian. White poachers would destroy the livelihood Indians relied on via wanton destruction of buffalo. There was a deadly contest of land dominance, one where only superior numbers would win.

We know how it ended, but what we forgot are the words, the beliefs and the customs that would end with these people. The speech Ten Bears gave needs revisiting;

“My people have never first drawn a bow or fired a gun against the whites. There has been trouble between us…my young men have danced the war dance, but it was not begun by us. It was you who sent out the first soldier.

Two years ago I came upon this road, following the buffalo, that my wives and children might have their cheeks plump and their bodies warm. But the soldiers fired on us…so it was upon the Canadian. Nor have we been made to cry once alone. The blue-dressed soldiers and the Utes came out form the night…and for campfires they lit our lodges. Instead of hunting game they killed my braves, and the warriors of the tribe cut short their hair for the dead.

So it was in Texas. They made sorrow in our camps, and we went out like the buffalo bulls when the cows are attacked. When we found them we killed them, and their scalps hang in our lodges. The Comanches are not weak and blind, like the pups of a dog when seven sleeps old. They are strong and farsighted, like grown horses. We took their road and we went on it. The white women cried and our woman laughed.

But there are things which you have said to me which I do not like. They were not sweet like sugar, but bitter like gourds. You have said that you want to put us on reservation, to build us houses and make us medicine lodges. I do not want them. I was born under the prairie, where the wind blew free and there was nothing to break the light of the sun. I was born where there were no enclosures and everything drew a free breath. I want to die there and not within walls. I know every stream and wood between the Rio Grande and the Arkansas. I have hunted and lived over the country. I live like my fathers before me and like them I lived happily.

When I was in Washington the Great Father told me that all the Comanche land was ours and that no one should hinder us living upon it. So, why do you ask us to leave the rivers and the sun and the wind and live in houses? Do you not ask us give up buffalo for sheep. The young men have heard talk of this, and it has made them sad and angry. Do not speak of it more.”

“Class Warfare” is the new Manifest Destiny for Democrats and Liberals

The rich should do more, the rich are selfish, and the rich are greedy. If this is so true, then why is the middle class disappearing? The rich need good middle managers.

Our leaders advocate we change our ways, we reform our thoughts and we succumb to the ideals of modern statism. In my heart I am a tea party conservative. In my heart I see the end of our culture. Be sure, it is not ending without a viscous fight. But also be sure, it is being overwhelmed by superior numbers.

The events in Norway are how I know. One mentally disturbed yet methodical man was able to fire indiscriminately for over an hour. The police were not prepared for this kind of violence; after all it was so un-Norwegian. It reminds me of the somewhat anti-utopian, future world movie "Demolition Man." In it Wesley Snipes plays a former bad boy who was rehabilitated with serial killer profiles and martial training. He begins to kick the Los Angeles police departments butt; meanwhile dispatch is witnessing everything live via city cameras. Rob Schneider’s character blurts out “were police officers, were not trained for this kind of thing.”

There are lessons to be learned by paying closer attention to Europe and the social make up they share. There is a group think and collective for which they are proud of and its fully their choice to practice. However, America still stands for individualism, we are the only country left that opperates that way, and so we are at war with idea's.

It should go without arguing how those from center left politics would love to see the United States mirror European society. European society also wishes to see the Unites States “grow up” and be more like them. Furthermore those of conservative and tea party roots are vastly outnumbered in the larger scheme of things. We are outnumbered in the media, the schools, and on the internet.

In a game of attrition, we are losing big. We all shared a small victory last year with a win in the house, but back home, our states raised taxes in many formats. In a striking validation that we are losing, California elected Jerry Brown and we still have to listen to Harry Reid. Our message is being drowned out by every bullet fired by a criminal. Our values are under attack every time Michelle Bachman opens her mouth. Congress is destroying our money and foreign powers are growing stronger than us.

"Our young people are seeing and hearing these things, they are sad and angry. Let us speak of this no more."
